Tim Reardon has more than 44 years experience in the supermarket industry. As a high school student, he started his supermarket career as a part time bagger for First National Stores, Inc. in Somerville, Massachusetts. Following his graduation from Boston College, he joined the company's Store Management Training Program and advanced to positions such as store manager, grocery specialist, director of operations and regional vice president of operations.
He relocated to Windsor Locks, Connecticut when First National moved its offices there. First National operated stores under the Finast banner and the Edwards Warehouse Foods stores banner. In 1993, he assumed his current position as vice president, risk management and support services. He relocated to Pennsylvania when Edwards Super Food Stores merged with Giant Food Stores.
Reardon oversees risk management, asset protection, equipment and supplies purchasing, food safety/regulatory affairs, government affairs, office services and corporate social responsibility for Giant Food Stores, LLC in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. In addition to the Giant Food Stores banner, the stores also operate as Martin's Food Markets and Foodsource.
Reardon takes an active role in the industry. He joined the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association board of directors in 1998 and currently serves as treasurer/secretary. He is also a member of the Legislative and FoodPAC committees and the WIC Advisory Group. In addition, he is a member of the Pennsylvania Pharmacy Council.
His other affiliations include the Food Industry Alliance of New York, the Food Marketing Institute, Maryland Retailers Association, Virginia Retail Merchants and the West Virginia Oil Marketers and Grocers Association.
