At dinner, Tom Ridge, chairman, Ridge Global, and former Pennsylvania Governor and Secretary of Homeland Security, will speak and acknowledge the 2017 Thomas R. and Laura Ridge Scholarship recipients. The scholarship, named for his parents, recognizes well-rounded students who excel in academics, extra-curricular activities and community service and plan to continue their education in the fall.
Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Tom Ridge left his position as governor of Pennsylvania to become the first Assistant to the President on Homeland Security, and on January 24, 2003, he became the first Secretary of Homeland Security. The creation of the country’s 15th department marked the largest reorganization of government since the Truman administration and another call of service for the former solider, congressman and governor. He served as the Commonwealth’s 43rd governor from 1995-2001.
Ridge is currently chairman of Ridge Global, a cyber-security solutions company, specializing in international security and risk management issues
