Sunbury-based Weis Markets, Inc. announced plans to carry only cage-free eggs in its stores by 2026. Cage-free eggs are produced by hens allowed to roam and stretch their wings.
Weis said it will be working with its suppliers to implement the program.
"We are encouraged by their commitment to helping us achieve our goal and believe it is the right thing to do," said Richard Gunn, Weis Markets' senior vice president, Merchandising and Marketing, in a press release.
