From left, Gerry Hocker, Emily and Gerald Hocker, Gregory Hocker and Melissa Hocker-Wiley celebrate the grand opening of their new 50,000 square foot supermarket in Bethany Beach, Delaware.
The Hocker family recently opened a 50,000 square foot supermarket near Bethany Beach. The Hocker’s purchased the Salt Pond Plaza shopping center, 695 Bethany Loop, and moved their smaller store to this new, larger location.
The move is bittersweet for State Senator Gerald Hocker, his wife Emily, sons Gerald “Gerry” Jr. and Gregory and daughter Melissa Hocker-Wiley. Gerald Hocker took over the store in 1971 from his uncle Jake Hocker. However, the larger size provides more room for amenities such as a sit-down dining area, a self-service ice cream bar, sushi, live lobster in the seafood department, expanded organic and gluten-free items and a household department with linens for vacationers who forget to bring them.
The Hockers also own a super center in Clarksville, Delaware.
