Following its tradition of supporting the local communities where it operates, Darrenkamp’s Markets supported the U.S. Little League Championship Red Land baseball team. The company raised $248,000 through the sale of t-shirts, which it presented to the team following a parade on September 5 at its Newberry Commons location in Goldsboro, Pennsylvania.
The parade celebrated the boys’ achievement and culminated at the Darrenkamp’s Market, where State Rep. Scott Perry, coaches and other dignitaries made speeches about the team’s fantastic run at the series. The boys honored their moms by presenting them with a rose and autographed baseballs and cards for the crowd as the high school band played.
Store manager Ryan Darrenkamp said they were approached by the Little League about selling the shirts at the store. All the proceeds went to support the Red Land Little League. In addition, the company sold a commemorative magazine and donated $2 from each sale to the team. By September 28, Darrenkamp’s had sold 18,759 shirts for a grand total of $281.385.
Darrenkamp’s Markets is still relatively new to the community and supporting the team definitely provided them with more recognition.
“A lot of people discovered us when the came to get the shirts,” Darrenkamp says. “We feel honored to be welcomed by the community.”
