Eight Pennsylvania Food Retailers
Among SUPERVALU Awardees
SUPERVALU Inc. recognized Karns Quality Foods as its 2016 Master Marketer for overall consistent performance during its annual National Expo in St. Paul, Minnesota this month. The competition recognizes best-in-class marketing efforts of independent grocery retailers served by the company’s wholesale distribution business.
SUPERVALU presented Karns, which operates eight stores in central Pennsylvania, with a $25,000 grant payable to the charity of its choice from the SUPERVALU Charitable Foundation.
Judges select the winners based on the creativity, clarity and effectiveness of the stores’ marketing campaigns. In addition to honoring stores based on their size, SUPERVALU added a new category for store groups with five or more locations.
“Year after year, we continue to be impressed by the quality, creativity and success of the campaigns nominated for the Master Marketer competition,” said Mike Stigers, SUPERVALU executive vice president, wholesale. “Choosing the winners is no easy task. All of the entries we received show how local grocery retailers are continuously finding new and exciting ways to engage their customers in a very competitive marketplace.”
