The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA) held a board meeting on October 5 during the Fall Legislative Conference in Harrisburg.
During the meeting the association announced the new chairmen of the Legislative Committee. They are Jeff Allen, Allen Brothers Wholesale Distribution, Philadelphia, Pa.; Brad Chivington, Turkey Hill Minit Markets, Lancaster, Pa.; and Joe Fasula, Gerrity’s Supermarkets, Scranton, Pa.
They will lead the committee in the discussion of issues such as the impact of annual state budget proposals and negotiations, adult beverage sales, tobacco and OTP issues, interchange fees, vendor sales tax allowance, fresh food financing, GMO and menu labeling, lottery sales, paid leave, property tax reform, SNAP funding, sustainability issues and more.
In addition, PFMA will form a Convenience Products Policy Committee to discuss issues important to Pennsylvania Distributors Association members, who are now PFMA members. Other PFMA members who are interested in the committee are also welcome to participate.
Initially, the committee will focus on tobacco, tobacco-related, and ancillary items normally available in a convenience store setting, and expand as the committee members deem necessary. Please call the office at 800-543-8207 to express your interest.
