• On March 14, PFMA staff attended the Mid-Atlantic Food Trades Organization (MAFTO) event honoring Jonathan Weis, president, CEO and chairman of Weis Markets, Inc., as its 2014 Person of the Year. The Dinner-Dance Weekend took place at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland.
• PFMA's Loss Prevention Committee met at our headquarters in Camp Hill on March 11, 2015 to hear KPMG′s Ron Plesco provide his riveting presentation on ‟How to Handle a Digital Disaster.” The group also got an inside view of a large coupon fraud investigation provided by Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Peterson. Adam Nowicki, Wegmans loss prevention division trainer for Pennsylvania, provided an update on his speaking engagement at the February 10 District Attorney′s Association meeting in Pittsburgh regarding updates to Pennsylvania′s retail theft laws. • Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful (KPB) kicked off the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania on March 1. PFMA is sponsoring this event along with The Fresh Grocer, Giant, Giant Eagle, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association, Republic Services, Sheetz, ShopRite, Steel Recycling Institute, Wawa, Wegmans and Weis Markets. The cleanup will run through May 31. Join over 4 million volunteers in the nation′s largest annual community improvement program and register your event at http://gacofpa.org/RegisterEvent.aspx.
