Raise your glasses for a toast: On June 29, the Giant Food Store in Camp Hill became the first establishment in the borough to sell alcohol. Cheers!
In the fall election, residents overwhelmingly voted in favor of allowing businesses in Camp Hill – a longtime “dry” borough – to sell alcohol.
Giant executives joined business and industry leaders for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the Friday afternoon unveiling and opening of the Beer & Wine Eatery at the Trindle Road location.
It is Giant’s 65th Beer & Wine Eatery to open across its four-state footprint.
“It’s a great selection – when you look around – you have beer and wine from all over the state, all over the country,” said Matt Simon, Vice President of Marketing for Giant. “There are hundreds from Pennsylvania – chardonnays, pinots, you name it, the variety is there for you. Domestic imported, we have them all.”
In November, 73 percent of residents voted to make Camp Hill “wet” and permit alcohol sales. The Beer & Wine Eatery in Camp Hill is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“Giant built a very beautiful Beer & Wine Eatery, and we wish them the best of luck,” Camp Hill Mayor Mark Simpson said. “Giant is a great community partner, supporter and resident of Camp Hill. For that, we are very appreciative.”
