“I am so grateful to be chosen as a recipient of the 2016 Thomas R. and Laura Ridge Scholarship. Thank you for investing in me and helping me pursue my college degree.”
Danyelle Dougan, a second year Ridge Scholar, is a sophomore at Bucknell University where she is studying chemical engineering.
The dean’s list student is a member of the women’s soccer club, Discovery Residential College, Society of Women Engineers, and the Engineering Success Alliance. She also serves her community through the Bucknell Brigade, a service organization that travels to foreign countries to assist those in need.
In her personal essay, Dougan wrote that job shadowing at two very different companies helped her decide to pursue a career in chemical engineering.
“One of the things that really drew me into chemical engineering is the variety,” she wrote. “The opportunities are practically endless because of the abundance of chemical usage.”
Her father, Gary Dougan, works for Country Fair, Inc., a member of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Food Council, sponsor of her scholarship.
