Governor Tom Wolf signed House Bill 182, sponsored by Rep. Seth Grove (R-York), on June 26. This legislation amends the Pharmacy Act to allow pharmacists to administer the influenza vaccine to individuals under the age of 18 with parental consent. It also permits qualified pharmacy interns to administer the injectable medication after they meet certain training requirements.
PFMA members with in-store pharmacies have identified this as a legislative priority. PFMA thanks Rep. Grove for his sponsorship and advocacy of this bill, and PFMA’s members for their grassroots support.
