Jacob Haibach, Waterford, PA
Edinboro University, Edinboro, PA
Sponsored by Northwestern Pennsylvania Food Council
“I am honored and incredibly grateful to receive this award. Thank you!”
Jacob Haibach is a junior at Edinboro University where he is pursuing a degree in Math. His father Albert Haibach Jr. works for Country Fair, a Northwestern Pennsylvania Food Council member, sponsor of his Ridge Scholarship.
In college, Haibach works for the radio station, the Gamers Guild and Anime Club. He volunteers his time to provide free rides to and from work, performs outreach to the homeless people and served as a political campaign volunteer. He is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma honor society and a Dean’s List scholar.
In his personal essay, Haibach wrote that his teacher Mrs. Scaletta helped him find his strength in Math.
“Mrs. Scaletta saw potential in me. She didn’t want me to miss the chance to further prepare myself for college and wouldn’t allow me to be complacent,” he wrote. “Beyond teaching me the finer points of Calculus, Mrs. Scaletta helped me realize that Math aptitude was one of my strengths and passions, and I could turn that aptitude into a college major and eventual career.”
