Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA
Sponsored by Wawa
“I am incredibly thankful and humbled to be chosen as a recipient of the prominent Ridge Award. My heart is overwhelmed by the generosity of PFMA and Wawa for this recognition. I will continue to strive for greatness as I progress through my academic pursuits.”
Maria Daly, a two-time Ridge Scholar, attends Ursinus College where she is working toward a degree in Neuroscience. Her mother, Nancy Daly, works for Wawa, Inc., sponsor of her scholarship.
The college junior is a member of Tri Sigma sorority, the Campus Activities Board, BrownBack-Anders Pre-Health Society, string ensemble, Escape Velocity Dance Troupe, takes Ballet and serves as a co-teacher at Darlington Toki Dojo. She also serves as an admissions tour guide, a Hospice volunteer, Mini-THON participant, and St. Steven Outreach Development.
In her essay, Daly writes about shadowing a cardiologist at Lancaster General Hospital.
“The interactions that he had with his patients enlightened and inspired me to see how deeply devoted he was to his profession,” she wrote. “It is with the same passion that I want to apply my own abilities toward helping others.”
