“I am so honored to be selected as a recipient of this generous scholarship. To me, this scholarship serves as a testament to my hard work. This scholarship is truly a blessing to be proud of.”
Lauren Reichart, a second-year Ridge Scholar, is a senior at West Chester University where she is pursuing a degree in communicative science and disorders.
The Dean’s List student is active as a Sister to Sister peer mentor and serves as scholarship chairman for Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She also assists the community as a volunteer for Girls on the Run, Special Olympics, Operation Brotherly Love and she helped distribute water during the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia last fall.
In her personal essay Reichart wrote about the positive difference she hopes to have in people’s lives.
“I want to be the person that reinstates hope in people’s lives after they are unable to communicate,” she wrote. “I want to be the person that finds a way for people to express their thoughts when a conventional communication system fails them.”
Her mother, Linda Reichart, works for Wawa in Media, Pennsylvania.
