PFMA recently hosted two webinars. The first, What We Can Expect for Grocery in 2016, was presented by Jeff Campbell of Applied Predictive Technologies (APT) in January. APT is an analytics firm that calculates future market trends based on data collection. For 2016, APT has predicted an increase in specialty departments, greater online competition, a greater focus on operational analytics and store layout changes to increase shopper convenience.
The second webinar, The Basics of Hiring, was presented by Anne Zerbe of CGA Law Firm in York. Anne detailed the "do's and don'ts" for employers during hiring, including the application, interviewing and preliminary offer process. She offered helpful suggestions in finding quality hires while still operating within legal boundaries.
PFMA has scheduled a webinar for March 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. The webinar, Background Screening: What You Don't Know Can Hurt Your Organization, will be presented by Debra Keller of Reference Services Inc. The webinar will encompass what makes a background check truly comprehensive, what can be considered and how to avoid legal compliance problems.
