In July, PFMA issued a membership survey, which was met with a phenomenal response. In all, 81 respondents made their opinions heard on such topics as the PFMA annual conference, educational needs, and their daily challenges. Here are some of the preliminary results:
• The benefits with the highest value to PFMA members are informational emails and advocacy with the Pennsylvania legislature.
• Most respondents indicated that they prefer a two-day annual conference, and more would prefer it shorter than longer than two days. Several also indicated that they would like PFMA to host smaller regional networking events for those that cannot dedicate the time to attend the conference.
• Slightly less than half of respondents indicated that their business was the same as last year. Of those that did not, the large majority indicated that their business had improved, which was usually credited to an improved economy and a focused strategic vision.
• When asked about their largest concern when they come to work on the morning, personnel issues, such as hiring and keeping a motivated workforce, was identified the most. Government regulations and prioritizing strategic and operational issues were also mentioned often.
PFMA thanks those that completed the survey. It will be an essential piece to future planning of PFMA's membership initiatives.
