"I am very honored and surprised to receive the Thomas R. and Laura Ridge Scholarship for the second time. The scholarship will help me further my education and pursue my aspirations in chemical engineering. It is a blessing to be given this opportunity for my education as I explore career paths in the pharmaceutical and consumer good industries."
Claire Rosenberger, a second year Ridge Scholar, attends the Pennsylvania State University, Schreyer Honors College, where she is studying chemical engineering.
During the past year, the dean's list student won 3rd place at the National Rube Goldberg Competition with the Society of Engineering Science (SES). She also won 1st place and a People's Choice Award at the regional competition. In addition, Rosenberger is active in the Women in Engineering Program, PSU Cross Country team and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
In the community, Rosenberger volunteers for the PSU Dance Marathon, Fresh Start, a greyhound adoption agency, and as a nursery attendant at her church.
Her father, Thomas Rosenberger, works for Sheetz, sponsor of her scholarship.
