Established in 1956, Pennsylvania Coupon Redemption Services, Inc. (PCRS) is the largest retail coupon clearinghouse owned and operated by a retail food association. It is also PFMA's longest-operating business service, processing millions of coupons a year for hundreds of supermarkets, convenience stores and other retailers in Pennsylvania and adjoining states.
We understand what you need from a retail coupon clearinghouse; after all, PCRS was started by retailers, for retailers. In the early 1950s, as coupons were gaining traction as a promotional tool with both manufacturers and consumers, a group of Erie, Pennsylvania supermarket operators was trying to figure out the best way to ensure payment for the increasing volume of cents-off savings they were giving their customers. These store owners brought their concerns and ideas to PFMA, and the decision was made to start a coupon clearinghouse that would handle the coupon processing needs of association members.
Our customers count on PCRS for its competitively-priced, superior quality redemption service that utilizes the latest scanning technology and proprietary payments software; outstanding customer service and manufacturer deduction advocacy and education and guidance on proper coupon handling procedures, fraud concerns such as counterfeit coupons and extreme couponing and barcode changes such as the recent GS1 DataBar migration.
PCRS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFMA. Profits earned from the coupon service are returned to the association to help offset the cost of government relations and membership programs, providing members with extra value for each coupon submitted for processing.
