In September PFMA’s Loss Prevention Committee traveled to Conshohocken to tour the facilities of one of the association’s newest members, ZeroEyes.
ZeroEyes leverages artificial intelligence to provide firearm detection for retail companies, warehouses and schools. Their system integrates with existing security cameras to analyze video feeds, scanning for the presence of firearms and flagging possible instances for immediate human verification. Within seconds of a possible detection, and depending on the time of day, human experts at ZeroEyes facilities in Conshohocken or Hawaii review the imagery and verify the threat or the false alarm. In cases where a gun is verified, ZeroEyes instantly alerts designated personnel, including on-site security staff and local law enforcement for appropriate response.
While on site, LP Committee members met with ZeroEyes personnel to learn how their system can protect customers and staff, and received a demonstration of how the AI detects brandished firearms.
Following its tour of the ZeroEyes facility the committee conducted its quarterly meeting over lunch, discussing best practices for gun-related violence response and de-escalation, and state Attorney General staff provided an update on the work of its Organized Retail Crime Task Force, which came online in July.
