The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA), a statewide trade association advocating for the retail food industry, is proud to announce U.S. Representative Glen Thompson (PA-5) as its 2016 “Federal Legislator of the Year.” This award is presented to legislators who exemplify the values of our supermarket, convenience store and associate members.
“U.S. Representative Thompson listened to PFMA members’ concerns during the past year and supported legislation that would have a positive impact on their businesses,” said David McCorkle, PFMA president and CEO. “He realizes the importance of keeping a strong business climate in the Commonwealth for job growth and economic prosperity.”
As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Representative Thompson supported the food industry on issues such as menu and GMO labeling and patient reform.
“We are pleased to honor U.S. Representative Thompson this year,” said Alex Baloga, vice president of external relations. “PFMA members appreciate his support on food industry issues. Thank you to Representative Thompson for defending and championing our members’ industries this year.”
PFMA Chairman Paul Rankin and Alex Baloga, vice president of external relations, will present the award to Representative Thompson during the Fall Legislative Conference on October 4 at the Harrisburg Hilton, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
