The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association praises the efforts of the state House and Senate in passing legislation to establish a Commerce Courts system in Pennsylvania.
SB 976 passed in the state House Wednesday night. PFMA supported the bill, which
was amended to include language to create a Commerce Courts system in the
Commonwealth. Establishing this system has been a priority of the association.
“Creating a Commerce Court system is a win for Pennsylvania businesses,” said Alex
Baloga, president and CEO of PFMA. “Being able to quickly address business-related
cases will improve the overall business law climate in the state. I’m grateful to Sen. Mike
Regan for asking Gov. Wolf to sign the bill, and to Rep. Seth Grove for sponsoring this
bill in the House.”
This specialized court will hear business-specific cases that deal with issues such as
dissolution, liquidation, governance, internal affairs and contract disputes. The ability to
focus on these cases will accelerate the adjudication of these issues. It also helps
develop consistency and transparency in the process for all those involved.
